The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) chose the finest in film and American television at the 79th Golden Globe Awards. It began its voyage in 1944 and is still wooing Hollywood enthusiasts. The annual custom of holding the Golden Globes in January took a surprising turn in 2022. This year’s ceremony drew 200 people—all dressed in masks—while resembling a modest event.
The event, however, was observed differently this year. The valet line at the iconic Los Angeles arena was empty. With minimal fanfare, the HFPA put on a (relatively) small show to honor the best in cinema and television. The invitees had to provide proof of vaccination, including the booster shot and negative PCR test. Moreover, the Hilton city was transformed into a miniature city—but with the absence of a red carpet.
