Screen Yorkshire joined hands with the Bradford Council to introduce a new training program Beyond Brontes, to handle the issue of misrepresentation in the show business. The 50 aspirants are selected from Bradford, Leeds, Calderdale, and Kirklees to participate in the program.

It is devised to dilute the obstacles that are stopping the young candidates from a different backdrop to get into the screen industry. The scheme will train the young students in a variety of courses, which include, set design, accountancy, editing, and research. It constituent internship, careers information, individual support, training and mentoring.

Sam Fray, Beyond Brontes Programme Manager at Screen Yorkshire said, “The screen industries are growing in the region, but the talent behind the cameras doesn’t currently reflect the diverse communities within the UK. We want the young audiences to find out about the opportunities available now and understand that a career in the film and TV industries could be for them. Anybody from different backgrounds can have a career in the screen industries; there are so many opportunities and there’s a place for everyone.”

Variety of opportunity in the screen industry

As the first batch of an apprentice is in place to get the training, Screen Yorkshire is working out the details that will suit the individual needs and carrier ambition. The people behind the program will give the trainee opportunity of paid internship in the regional production companies such as Duck Soup Films, True Vision Yorkshire, Rockdale Studios and many more.

Screen Yorkshire which is a recognizable name in the film, TV, games and digital market inside the country is not only providing training to these new aspirants but hiring industry professionals who can mentor these young people in the right way.

It is also final touches on a training course, which will be unveiled in a few months that will help the new trainees to acquire the essential skills to start their journey in the industry.
